I left to cut a Christmas tree
But was given an awkward eye
By a neighbor walking down the street,
When I realized it was July!

I only wanted to spread the cheer
I woke up with that morning,
But instead incited skeptic fear
And a quickly spreading warning:

“There’s a crazy man in snowpants
Walking through the summer smolder,
Asking why were ‘all so tense’
With an ax up on his shoulder!”
